Key information about Prepaid SIM card activation

All prepaid SIM cards have to be activated by real personal ID (passport/Australian driver's license), Valid visa in Australia, and email address. 

Your Telstra account will created after activating prepaid SIM cards. The Telstra account:

1. Help you to recharge or report SIM card loss

2. Protection against illegal misuse of your number 

3. Compliance with local laws and regulations

Terms and Conditions of Telstra Service

Telstra currently offers 5G in select areas and is progressively rolling it out to other areas. In non-5G areas, you’ll automatically switch to our 4G or 3G. 

 

The Telstra Mobile Network offers 4GX in all major and regional cities and in over 1,600 towns and communities around Australia. In other coverage areas around Australia, you’ll automatically switch to our fastest available 4G or 3G. 

 

Speeds vary for reasons like location, distance from base stations, terrain, user numbers, hardware/software configuration, download source and upload destination.

 

Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile: Unlimited calls/texts exclude satellite and premium numbers (e.g. 19xx numbers), operator-assisted calls (e.g. most 12xx numbers) and diverted calls. Roll over and access unused data when you recharge $10-$60 before expiry. Your unused data will expire if you don’t recharge on eligible recharges before expiry. For use in Australia.

 

Bonus data on Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile: New customers get 20GB bonus data with your first three $30-$60 recharges. Activate a $2 SIM and get bonus data on the first three $30 - $60 recharges. Activate a $30, $40 or $60 SIM Starter Kit (includes the first recharge) and get bonus data on your next two recharges. Activate or first recharge between 6 July 2021 and 27 September 2021, the remaining two recharges by 30 November 2021.
